Diwali Celebrations

The festival of lights has ben celebrated in India. Diwali celebration is more vibrant in the northern part of india when compared to southern state. In kerala diwali is called deepavali. During diwali i have witnessed people buying fire crackers dnd sparklers, flower pots and ground ‘chakras’ etc. from shops on diwali eve to usher in the festival of lights. Even though the price of firecrackers has gone up people has bought it in bulk. This year special diwali crackers has been launched into the market. One of the newly introduced fire cracker is Ghost Rocket. The speciality of this rocket is that once this is light up it takes an upward direction and form the shape of a skeltal being.

Moon drops rocket which is a new entrant is also in high demand. Accroding to the shop owners this year’s diwali fire cracker market has got machine made and quality crackers. This is due to the fact that there was a massive crack down of child labour in the neighbouring state of tamilnadu from all these crackers come to kerala.

Sound pollution caused by these crackers is a major concern for the people and the government. In recent years many people has questioned the use of fire crackers during diwali. Based on the view of the pople govenment has recently issued a public notification not to light up crackers during late night hours.

Among the tamil families of trivandrum and brahmin community of kerala is more engaged in lighting up their houses with candes and earthern lamps than lighting up fire crackers.

Like every other festival in india, a legend is associated with diwali. Diwali is celebrated to remember the sucess of goodness over evil. According to the legend Lord Krishna has killed Narakasuran on this particular day which falls on the ‘Narakachathudasi’ day of karthika month.

This year is also not different by the companies and shop owners for their sales and marketing. Major companies has come up with new products and offers to lure the customer during this festive season

This years has truly sparkled in trivandrum city.
