Aim to have atleast 100 to 250 words on each with carefully chosen keywords. This text is essential for high search engine ranking. However, the search engines when visit our website must be able to read the text, meaning that the text must be in HTML and not graphic format. If use of graphics is inevitable to you design, add you prospective keywords and phrases in the alt property of the image tag <img> and title property of the hyperlink tag</a>. But dont stuff those title and alt with keywords, type in only the most important ones.
How to find that a text is in html format or not. There is a simple way, try to highlight a word or two. If you are able to highlight the word, the text is HTML. If the text will not getting highlighted, it is probably in graphic form. In this case, just change the text into HTML format in order to increase your search engine rankings. Tip : Dont leave you email id in html format in webpages, try to keep it in graphic format to avoid spammers.
Next important thing is the meta tags. Meta tags are placed on top of a webpage before closing the <html> tag. The common meta tags used are meta- description, meta - content, meta - keywords. Now a days meta tags are not that much prominent for high search engine rankings. Still it is worth adding because some search engine do care about meta tags for ranking the websites. Almost all search engines use link popularity for ranking a website or webpage. Link popularity is usually based on the quality of the sites a website has linked from the links page.
