Importance of Web Directory in Internet

Today morning while i was on my way to my office, Mr.Benny, who is publisher and editor of an ayurveda related magazine has rang me up on my mobile. He was asking about online marketing of his websites which are related to kerala, india and the ayurveda magazine. He was concerned about lack of visitors to his website and i will have to optimize the websites to have
maximum reach. He knows that i am working for many websites concerned with online marketing and search engine optimization. I told him that i will be telling more details about the same after visiting the website and looking one the current position of the website in the internet.

While talking i have suggested him that to be visible in the internet a website should have more back links and for the stability of the website there should be more referral visitors and direct visitors rather than visitors from search engines. As far as my experience is concerned to get more referral visitors one should place the link of the website in several web directories like www.dirmania.org and links on other related and relevant websites. One can add a link in the web directory free of cost or as a paid link. Most of the web directories offers free links and paid links or featured links. I would suggest to add link of your website as featured links. Even though those links cost you some penny but it will help in generating relevant back links to your website, which will in turn add value to a website in search engines.
