What is Adams Apple?

Today i have read in a news paper daily regarding Adams Apple. The heading of the news Adam’s Apple persuaded me to read that article. The article was also showing the picture of a man with Adams’ Apple. For those who don’t know what is Adams apple, read this post you will definitely get an idea. The name for this structure in a human body generates a great deal of curiosity among the people to know exactly what is is all about. An Adam’s apple is an anatomical structure which appears mostly in males. It used to develop in males during puberty or during teen age period. In some males the adam’s apple is highly visible, while others are less pronounced, and they even appear enlarged on some women as well as men. Why is this structure so important in a human body? The primary purpose of the structure is to protect the delicate voice box from injuries.

During the younger age this structure in human body will be delicate and as the person grow the structure will also enlarge, while older people have more bony protrusions. In the first view of this structure it seem like an apple stuck in the throat due to this reason so the name is linked with Adam’s consumption of the Fruit of the Tree of Knowledge. The story goes like this “The first man Adam and first women Eve was given every good things by the god they were living happily on earth. The evil being has persuaded them to eat apple. Going after the words of evil being Adam has swallowed an apple. On reach his throat he realized the word of god to not to eat the same apple and hold his throat to stop from being swallowed and it got stuck there. After eating that apple adam and eve got deprived of all the good things in their life. It is that apple which stuck on adams throat can still be found in all males. That is an interesting story on this structure in human body.

It is during the time of teen age this structure develops in the body and it leads voice change in males. As men mature, their voices deepen and sometimes become more rough as well. The period in which the Adam’s apple develops is often marked by wild fluctuations in the male voice, as the vocal cords settle into their new size.
