The peculiarity of 2009 election is that almost all the political parties has got online presence for campaign. In one of my previous post i had discussed about BJP’s online election campaign. Not only BJP but all the regional and national parties has actively campaigning online to reach more voters especially younger voters.
The communist party of India has also started online political campaigning weeks before the last date of filing nomination. This is a move by the communist party of india to reach out to the younger generation. The Communist Party of India-Marxist has launched its election campaign website, designed and developed by its Young Information Technology comrades.
The website created for online political campaign for communist party of India is www.vote.cpim.org. The website is set against a reddish background with header image being Jothy Basu attending a mass rally. The website has added with information on election manifesto of cpim, details of various candidates competing in the election, a forum to discuss various election and party related matters, perspective of cpim leaders on various national issues and related videos.
The website has been launched by Sitaram Yechury, the main objective of this website is to influence voters of younger generation who are 54 percent of the country’s population. After launching the website Sitaram Yechury has said that The young segment is largely in the internet world like never before and the aim if this website is to reach out to this young generation.
The communist party of India – Marxist has got a separate team to manage and update thee content of the website regularly. All the campaign material for the elections, including the party manifesto and the video clippings of the leader’s speech, are available on the website.
The communist part of India Marxist has got strong presence in states like kerala and West Bengal and i think the new website will help the party to reach more masses.
