Day before yesterday my wife and her mother got enrolled into Health Smart Card issued by the government for cashless treatment in hospitals in kerala. The session for enrollment of names in smart card was organized inside the premises of government quarters, rajiv nagar, karamana. On that particular day many people who are residing in and around karamana has enrolled their names for cashless treatment.
Initially i thought that the cashless treatment is a project of kerala government but when i received the card i found the details of government of India rather than details of kerala government. On the rear side of the card it was also mentioned in the card about Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojna (RSBY). When i searched more about the project i found that Smart Card is Sponsored by, Both: Central & State Government. Funding Pattern, 75% Central and 25% State.
For those who approach private hospitals for treatment, this smart card will not be much useful. Please visit the website, www.chiak.org for more details about the project and other related details like empaneled hospitals (hospitals where you can produce this card for cashless treatment). After going through the the list of hospitals in the website i found that the no private and established private hospitals are less. Hope that more private hospitals get added to the list in the recent future.
