Today India is celebrating its 60th republic day. The republic day celebration in New Delhi has undergone amidst tight security. Obviously today is a holiday all over India. How was your republic day holiday? In the earlier days republic day was a day to remember those who have laid their lives in India’s freedom struggle. But nowadays everything have changed and so the viewpoint of the common man regarding patriotism. Republic day and Independence days has become a day to enjoy a holiday and relax. If the republic day falls on Friday or Monday then it is a great opportunity to plan a weekend holiday for 3 days, remember those martyrs of Indian freedom struggle and show your patriotism in a beautiful beach or hill destination. It is common that Indians has become self centered and live in their own cocoons without any thought for the country. I would say that at least during these days Indian should understand the importance of Independence and not take it for granted.

Its good that none of us was beaten by some gang of goons on 24rth of january night like the girls and boys who suffered the curse of Shri Ram Sena in Mangalore.
Otherwise we might not have been able to say “Happy Republicans Day” so happily.
I maintain that India is yet not free as freedom is the independence of Man from men, it is the sovereignty of individual to act rationally. Freedom doesn’t mean rule of majority, even Savages follows the rule of their cults!
but then its just the start of the proceedings. Such proceedings will go up till 14rth of februry. Innocent girls and boys will be harassed, beaten and assaulted becoz some section will think they are hurting Indian culture.
Anyways, since none of us was there in that mangalore pub where those innocent youth were harassed, hence we can say Happy Republicans day. Does it make one feel to be in the group of those who were beaten, or in the group of those who harassed them? Or may it just doesn’t matter anymore.
Those who say India is free doesn’t understand what freedom is.
it is true that India got freedom against britishers in 1947.
Indians are yet not free though.
India is still struggling against slavery
While we have a lot to be proud of on India’s Republic Day, we also have to remember that we still have a long way to go. The youth of our country are the ones who can help India reach a point where every child is educated, and every person has food to eat; where health care and clean water are available to every citizen.
