Yesterday while i was having causal talk with my friends one of my friend has told a shocking information that endosulfan like pesticides are being used in bakery items / snacks to preserve the foods. I was pretty shocked by the news because i used to buy unpacked and loosely sold snacks for my family at least once in every 2 or 3 days. My friend was asking how loosely sold bakery items are being kept in the bakery for several weeks without any damage or decay? I have also asked this question several times in my life but i thought that there might be some kind of preservatives available to preserve the foods. I have wondered that local snacks in kerala like unniappam, vadas etc are kept in bakery for weeks which if we prepare it in our homes can preserved only for 2 or 3 days. Is there any right quality of edible preservatives available in the market or people who are making bakery items used to add some kind of pesticides in food items to keep them fresh for several weeks. Is there an organization or authority who can test these kind of loosely sold bakery items which are consumed by all kinds of people especially children.
Do you know which kind of preservatives are used in these loosely sold and local bakery items / snacks and is adding pesticides in bakery items is a gossip What do you think?
